Movie Poster Construction

My movie poster compared to a real movie poster

My Movie Title

For my movie poster I wanted to have a unique font for the film title to do this I went on to the website www.dafont.com as it has a variety of fonts that would be useful for my movie poster. The font that I found was called 'horror scribbles' I liked this font as I thought that it tied in with the horror genre.

As there was a lot of black in my movie poster the colour of my title could not be black therefore I had to change the colour of it to suit my movie poster. to do this I took the fill paint tool and changed each letter to red. After I changed the colour I still wanted the movie title to stand out a lot more therefore I added an outer glow, drop shadow and inner glow to the title.

Five star rating

Most professional posters do not have gold five star ratings therefore I went onto Photoshop and changed the colour of the stars to white as it makes my poster look a lot more professional

Movie Posters

Moive poster Draft 2

Billboard Poster
This is the movie poster that I have created except I have put it onto a billboard. From my research I have found that this is one of the main ways to get people interested in your film. It helps to attract a wider audience to your film.

Movie poster
This is the first draft of my movie poster. I have included many of the main conventions from other real movie posters such as a billing block, release date, website and age rating of the film. Although from my target audience feedback I can see that I still have a lot of changes to make. I need to add a glow around the black writing to make it easier to read. I also need to include a real billing block and I can do this by getting a billing block template. There is also still a lot of space left in my poster and I could use up some of that space by adding in a film rating from a newspaper and including the names of the main characters.

Construction

What am I using to edit my teaser trailer?

Final Cut Pro is a nonlinear editing system that allows users to edit video. Created by Apple Computer, Final Cut Pro allows you to edit everything from digital viedo, IMX and uncompressed SD to HDV, XDCAM HD, DVCPRO HD and uncompressed HD. I have decided to use Final Cut Pro because I found that it was an easy software to edit with. It also has a timeline so that clips can be edited in sequences.

What camera did I use to shoot my teaser trailer?

The camera that I used was called the Cannon Vixia, I liked using is as it was small and easy to use. I was able to bring it anywhere with me meaning that I was able to bring it to various locations. With this camera I was able to take sharp, high quality clips for my teaser trailer.
